Managing Director - Salmon Group
Jan Olav Langeland is CEO of Salmon Group. He has worked at national and international levels in management, sales, marketing, and branding, and has also worked with business policy framework conditions at all political and administrative levels.
His previous roles have included marketing manager at the feed producer EWOS, division manager in the BKK group, and sales director at Synnøve Finden, among others.
Product manager - feed & genetics - Salmon Group
Bjørn Morten Myrtvedt is head of product at Salmon Group. He has special responsibility for feed recipes and genetics and works on the continuous development of these. Bjørn Morten is a marine biologist with a Master's degree from the University of Bergen. He has extensive experience within the aquaculture industry, both as a knowledge communicator from his time as a lecturer in aquaculture, as well as a product manager at the feed company EWOS. Myrtvedt’s previous roles include product development manager at Rieber & Søn and managing director of Saltimport in Bergen.
General Manager - SEARAS AS
How to ensure sustainable production on land?
Eldar Lien has a degree in engineering from technical physics at NTNU and is General Manager at SeaRAS AS. Together with Leirvik AS, they have developed OptiRAS, a scalable and sustainable RAS module that provides significantly lower energy consumption compared to conventional production. The modules are removable, and the materials can be recycled. To ensure good fish health and welfare, water quality is of course the focus.
The project has received support from Innovation Norway and Bremnes Seashore will be the first to use the solution in 2023.
Professor at NMBU
How important is the feed for the development of melanin spots in salmon fillets?
This is the topic of Turid Mørkøre's presentation at Alltech Lunch & Learn in Bergen on 18 January 2023. Turid is a senior researcher at Nofima and a professor at NMBU, and has gained extensive experience from her research into melanin spots and the quality of the salmon.
Research Director - ACD Pharma
Hans Petter Kleppen is a molecular biologist and director of research at ACD Pharma. He has a PhD from NMBU on the interaction between bacteria and bacteriophages in industrial fermentation, and since 2010 has led the research and development work on bacteriophages in ACD Pharma and STIM.
ACD Pharma was established to develop fish health products for the aquaculture industry and in 2018 the company became the first in the world to launch a bacteriophage product for use in farming.
International Projects Manager Aquaculture - Alltech
John Sweetman is passionate about farming and has more than 40 years of experience in the aquaculture industry. Throughout his career, he has worked as a farmer, as a consultant, and in research and development work.
Currently, John is the international projects manager for aquaculture at Alltech. His areas of interest include skin, gill, gut health, mineral nutrition, and immune response, to promote robust fish with good performance.
CEO - Merdslippen AS
Vidar Vangen is an engineer and works as general manager in Merdslippen AS. His first encounter with the industry was through a summer job at a breeding facility in Austevoll. In his adult life, he has been involved in the development of equipment related to aquaculture, and for the past 17 years, he has worked as general manager at Merdslippen AS.
At Lunch & Learn, Vidar will talk about Merdslippen/GreenBag and how, through innovation and good cooperation with Hardingsmolt, they are helping to shape the future of lice-free salmon production.
Veterinarian
Solveig M. R. Nygaard is a trained veterinarian specializing in fish and has worked in the fish farming industry since 1985. She has worked for both the fish health company FoMAS, and Grieg Seafood ASA, as the Global Fish Health Manager.
Today Solveig is a consultant in her own company, focusing mainly on fish welfare around new equipment and new forms of production.

Dr. Mark Lyons grew up in the Alltech business, having traveled with his father and Alltech’s founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons, from a young age to visit customers. With experience working in all regions and nearly all departments — before even officially joining Alltech — he has a deep and uniquely personal knowledge of the company. Based on Alltech’s belief that agriculture has the greatest potential to positively shape our world’s future, he launched the Planet of Plenty™ vision in 2019. He has called for collaboration to provide nutrition for all, revitalize local economies and replenish the planet’s natural resources.
Today, Dr. Lyons is based at Alltech’s headquarters in Kentucky, USA. He serves on the CLEAR Center Advisory Council and is active in many industry groups. Dr. Lyons has published papers and patents in areas ranging from enzyme production to global economics and is interested in the assurance of food safety and quality throughout the entire food chain.
