The Girls Behind “Jenter i havbruk” (Girls in Aquaculture)
Behind the Instagram account “Jenter i havbruk” are three different – yet in many ways very similar – young women. What unites them is their passion for the aquaculture industry, their characteristic
“trønder” determination, and a great sense of humor.
When we get a visit, it’s two of the three who are coming: Sunniva and Runa. Together, they represent everything that makes “Jenter i havbruk” unique: genuine engagement, openness, and plenty of energy.
Runa is from Trondheim and has settled on Frøya, right in the heart of Norway’s aquaculture region. After several years in the Armed Forces, she took the leap into the aquaculture industry, first at SalMar’s InnovaMar processing plant and later as a marine technician at sea sites. Today, she works as an HR consultant at InnovaMar / SalMar AS, while pursuing a part-time master’s degree in strategy and management. Runa thrives both out on the salmon cages and in front of the camera, and she is often the one who sparks the ideas that turn into posts and reels.
Sunniva, originally from Rørvik, now lives in Bergen, but her heart still belongs to Trondheim. She grew up in a family with deep roots in aquaculture – her grandfather founded SalmoNor. After completing a bachelor’s degree in economics and administration at NTNU and a master’s in strategy and management at NHH in Bergen, she joined Lerøy as a trainee. Energetic and spontaneous, she’s often in front of the camera, completely unfiltered.
Together with Maria, who manages things behind the scenes from Frøya, they form an unbeatable team. “Jenter i havbruk” is as genuine, engaging, and down-to-earth as the girls themselves.
